Inclusion Department

Every Child Matters

In November of the year 2013, a vision of change, prosperity, and harmony was imparted by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.

"My Community... A City for Everyone: Our mission is to implement policies and best practices that empower people of determination to make choices in an environment that is inclusive and ensures access to opportunities on an equal basis with others."

This mission is what governs our approach here at Greenwood International School. We believe in embodying an inclusive education embedded with principles and policies that caters to all students.

At Greenwoods International School, we strongly affirm that education should be about enabling all children, in line with their abilities, to live full and independent lives so that they can contribute to their communities, be responsible citizens of their communities, and continue to learn throughout their lives.

We promote, wholly advocate, and support the inclusion and integration of students of determination in our school.

In line with our vision and goals, we aim to strive for an inclusive academic environment by incorporating suitable accommodations, differentiated instruction, individualized lessons, and personalized curricula to meet different needs. Differentiation is highly valued at the school; differentiation occurs in the overall teaching methods and instructional strategies, lesson plans, and assessments of learning objectives.

Furthermore, learning also calls for the integration of not only diverse academic outputs, and inclusive facilities, but also requires the hands-on involvement of competent and compassionate teachers. Our teachers in GIS receive continuous training and support from the Inclusion Department, partnered centers and specialist to ensure that the student’s learning outcomes, engagement, and self-awareness are improving.

Inclusion should not be feared, it should be welcomed; with inclusion comes diversity and integration, which prepares us for the real world. We believe that inclusion is not only about differentiating the curriculum, mixing up students with different abilities in a classroom, and teaching them math, English, Science, etc., Inclusion is a preparation for life and living.

Inclusion is beautiful. With the right provisions, our students can grow into valued employees, responsible citizens, and reliable friends.
