History of gis
The school owner, Mr. Nasser Badri, had a vision and an idea to reshape education as he and his children experienced it. With that idea in mind, he started GIS with the help of Ms. Rashida Badri heading a team of experienced and motivated educators in 2006. GIS started its first year with 72 students only (half of which were employees’ children) and it operated until grade 6 only.
Ever since then, the school has been on the rise from one success to another. GIS has gained an excellent reputation in the surrounding community and all over Dubai. Accomplishments were both on the national and international arenas where the school had many participations with its students both inside and outside of the UAE.
Demand on the school for the excellent academic results achieved and for its excellent programs of building students into young leaders has been on the rise. In 2011-2012, the school had 840 enrolled students from all over the world. The first batch of GIS graduates was the 2011-2012 Grade 12 students. Greenwood International School applied for international accreditation with the prestigious AdvancEd and became an internationally acknowledged school in 2012.
In December 2018, GIS achieved a significant milestone by successfully obtaining its accreditation from NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges).
